Alexander review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 12:27 (A review of Alexander)

This was a movie I had wanted to see for a while and I heard that there was a lot of talking so I was excepting that but holy crap was there a lot of talking. I did like how the story took place and unfolded but overall this movie was pretty bad.

+Good action/ war sceens
+Story told fairly well
+Music was pretty good

-Way to long
-To much talking
-Not that accurate
-I hated the back and forth editing

2012 review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 12:26 (A review of 2012)

People think this movie is about 2012, but really it's about the first ever Jedi Knight. Jackson Curtis, played by John Cusack, uses the force to avoid countless destructive happenings that was caused by a lazer blast from the Death Star. The government says it's massive solar flares but to the acute observer you can see the Death Star hidden in the backgroud. I like the idea of showing how the Jedi Order was started but the movie sucked. Bad acting, mental dialogue, and useless scenes.

Ghost Story review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 11:01 (A review of Ghost Story)

** spoiler alert ** This is one of those cases where I like the movie more than the book. The movie seems to tell the story more effectivly and makes it seem more believable. The book goes into way to much detail that doesn't really need to be there. There's far too many characters that don't need to be there as well. I also don't really buy the idea of ghosts killing nearly everyone in a small town just for a 100 year old revenge, which is probably why I like the movie more. Anyway, it's a good read, flows pretty well and the ending is good too.

Yellow Magic Orchestra review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:57 (A review of Yellow Magic Orchestra)

I was turned on to this group because I love Kraftwerk but this band does have its own sound, although I don't like it as much. Some of it is a tad more chaotic, like the first track Computer Games. It gets pretty good but you have to wait nearly 2 minutes. It's a damn good track once it gets going! Firecracker follows right after as the same sound so it's pretty much a 11 minute track split in two. Simoon is a mess and it's hard to describe it but it doesn't work at all. Tong Poo features a nice female voice and has this sound that spoils the whole song, this "oi oi" type cat call. I'd love this track if it wasn't for that. The rest of the album pretty much follows suit. Some of it is good but there's something missing and it just doesn't flow well and doesn't really 'grab' me, like Kraftwerk does.

Siamese review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:56 (A review of Siamese)

Another fairly average release. There are some highs and lows for me on this one. I love the overall theme, the fact that there is only one track with female vocals this time, and there are some good tracks on here. I really love Falling From Lucifer’s Grace. With that guitar sample it sounds like his earlier days for sure. The negatives are tracks like Bam Bam and Loyal to My Hate. Why does Rudy feel the need to just keep repeating lyrics over and over and over again? It gets so annoying that I find myself skipping the track, and hate that because the music isn't half bad on these tracks. He did it a lot on the album Evoke and that's when I think he started to do that often. Not a big fan of it. So, overall this is an ok release and I bought it for $10 so it's worth that price for sure.

PS: One thing I have noticed is that on the last few albums Rudy has used movie samples from the movie The Exorcist. Not sure why he has such a hard on for that movie but enough already!

PPS: The video for Siamese is crap! Just the two headed baby you see on the album cover dancing in one spot for 4 minutes. Boring!

Good Twin
Falling From Lucifer’s Grace
Boneshaker Baybee
Siamese

Evil Twin
Teufelszeug
Bam Bam
Loyal to My Hate (I would have enjoyed this track if it was between 3-4 minutes but it fucking drags on for nearly 7 and I find no reason why because there isn't much lyrics either.)

Schadling review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:55 (A review of Schadling)

This release took me a while to warm up to but after a few listens I think it's a pretty solid release. However, like most of his newer albums I can't seem to bring myself to rate it higher than a 3.5/5. I really think the mixing from track to track on this album is one of the best he's ever done. Really smooth and good flow and the first five tracks are all awesome. I also think Break the Seal and Hard to Bear are two of his best instrumentals he's done in a long while too.

PS: The name "Rifki" in the song Rifki is stated 111 times, 41 by Rudy and 70 sampled from the movie Midnight Express. Yeah, gets kind of lame but the music is good enough for me to listen to and count this useless fact.

Bone Peeler review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:54 (A review of Bone Peeler)

This is a weird album for me. Everything is slow on here and Rudy feels the need to keep repeating verses over and over again. Is it just to make the tracks longer? Was he doing this just to make this album long as well? I don't know but it gets annoying at times. I do like a couple tracks on here and the overall theme of the album is good too. On a side note I do give him credit for changing his style, even if most people didn't like it. I also noticed hints of Embryodead on here too. At least this album reminded me a bit of that one. Also, this is the only :w: album with no instrumental tracks so that was a change for once! This is probably my 2nd least favourite album he has done and it's one that I don't own but I probably will if I ever saw it for cheap.

PS: Enough with The Exorcist samples...we get it already!

Bones Peeled
And Life Goes On
Scavenger
Crown of Thorns
Just a Tenderness

Flesh Left On
Your Last Salute
Rise Again
Fear in Your Eyes

Wreath of Barbs review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:53 (A review of Wreath of Barbs)

First off, I'll start by saying that this cover artwork is shit. As far as the music goes this is a pretty solid release. It's some good electro-industrial, which Rudy seems to very damn good at these days. I won't comment too much on the music as it's pretty good overall but I will say a couple negative things. First off, the Eclipse remix is crap and I never liked Rudy's remixes to begin with. Second is about the track Hate is Mine, which I fucking love a lot, but why in the holy fuck does Rudy put in Dune samples in this track. And they're not just normal Dune samples, they're samples that have nothing to do with the track or idea of it whats-so-ever! "We have just folded space from Ix." Please tell me what that has to do with dogs gaining on you and killing you and the whole idea of this track? In any event I think this was the album that marked the change in his sound for good. He would begin to have ringtones for his songs even. I do like this album but it has it's flaws and I think this is where I started to see Rudy making music for the masses instead of the great industrial music he was best known for in the past.

Bloodchild review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:53 (A review of Bloodchild)

This compilation has some pretty good stuff and some not so great material. I will comment by saying that the very first :wumpscut: track I ever heard was Hang Him Higher, which was featured on another compilation, Critical Mass. I fell in love with it and this prompted me to buy, and hear, nearly ever single track Rudy ever did. It has one of the most beautiful piano melodies of any industrial track I've heard. It's soon followed by a somewhat dirtier version of Koslow. I like this one better as it seems a bit more harsher. There's some other awesome ambient/slow tracks on here like; Frozen Images, To the Sky and Lamandier. I sometimes wish Rudy would regress to this style for his newer stuff but to each his own I guess. Now he gets his bitches to sing for some of his tracks, which I'm getting tired of.

The tracks I dislike on here are both the last two tracks on each disc, but for the most part there's some good stuff on here, even if it sounds kinda dated. If your like me and you like to hear how an artist got to where he was then this is a great example but overall I have heard better older material from other industrial artists.

Eevil Young Flesh review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:52 (A review of Eevil Young Flesh)

This is still one of my favourite :w: albums and I think it's because of how raw it sounds and the overall theme tickles my fancy too. I also like how he's managed to use German rap artists to sample for some harsh sounding industrial tracks. I had no idea until I did these liner notes for this review. Nice stuff! I recommend this one for sure if your new to the artist.

Liner Notes:

Wulf contains samples from the TV movie Der Seewolf.
Deadmaker contains samples from Sabrina Setlur's song Glaubst Du mir?.
I Want You contains samples from Russ Ballard's song It's too Late.
Escape contains samples from the movie Alien³.
Outside contains samples from Tic Tac Toe's song Bitte küss' mich nicht.
Forgive Me contains basic elements by Laittog.
Tell Me Now contains samples from U2's songs Please (the live version) I think it's just the crowd cheering.
Longing contains samples from the movie Legends of the Fall.
