Frankenstein's Daughter review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:02 (A review of Frankenstein's Daughter)

This movie is hilarious. It has to have the most sexiest plot of any movie for its time, and after probably. The main idea being that Frankenstein is using a female brain this time because females are better at controlling as they live in a mans World and are use to being controlled...lol. The monster doesn't even look female at all so I'm not sure why some of the people know she's a female right away. Apparently the guy doing the make up for this movie made the monster thinking it was a guy but the director told him it has to be a female so the artist just put some lip stick on the mask. However, the poster artwork still shows a shirtless man...lol. On a good note this movie had Page Cavanaugh and his Trio perform two fairly good tracks at a party.

Here's the quote of one of the most sexist lines I've heard in a movie. Made me laugh so hard:

Elsu: Your father and grandfather never used a female brain.
Oliver Frank: No. The way the female's brain is conditioned to a man's world. Therefore it takes orders where the other one's didn't.

The Fourth Kind review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:01 (A review of The Fourth Kind)

I have mixed feelings about this movie. I had gone to it thinking the idea was 100% real but I later found out that most of the entire movie is fake, and probably all of it infact. I kind of clued in when they showed that "live" video of the man shooting his wife and kids. There is no way they could show that! They don't even on Youtube. I will say though that it was pretty well done and I honestly had trouble sleeping after I watched it. It was pretty much from one scene when Abbey listens to her own recording of herself in bed and the aliens creep in and mess her up. That part gave me chills up my spine and it was all I could think about when I was trying to sleep. Now, I've been watching horror since I was 8 years old and I have not lost sleep over a movie in probably 10 years so that says a lot. Overall it's not a bad movie but it would have got an extra star had it been a true case in the first place.

The Fly review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:59 (A review of The Fly)

This was probably the first movie I saw that gave me nightmares and I remember it almost made me sick to my stomach too. I think I was about 10 years old and I had been watching horror movies since I was 8, but this one put me over the top. I think it was in large due to the puking scenes when The Fly pukes on the jealous boyfriend a couple times.

Anyway, this is my all time favourite remake of any movie and the make up effects if simply amazing for its time. Jeff Goldblum is slowly transformed into a fly after accidentaly having a fly in the same transporter machine, which he invents. It's not your typical transformation either. He starts losing bits of his body and by the end he looks like a 6 foot tall creature from a Spawn comic or something. I remember the ending being very sad when I was younger as well and I felt so sorry for The Fly as he forces his girlfriend to kill him. Even though I'm a hugh Vincent Price fan and a B-movie nut this one is far better than the original and the sequal wasn't all to bad either.

The Flesh Eaters review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:59 (A review of The Flesh Eaters)

This movie is very interesting and there are some deleted scenes that are even more interesting, but you'll have to buy the DVD to see those. The story is pretty simple. Prof. Peter Bartell is an ex-Nazi that has a Government secret that he is experimenting with on a remote island. Three people crash land on this island and are befriended by the Prof, but they soon discover his secret and the deadly flesh eaters. The movie overall is fairly well done but the ending is just ridiculous and kinda ruins the whole film. It's honestly one of the better b-movies to come out during the 60's and there was some gimmicks involved with some theaters, such as people were given out small packs of blood to use against a flesh eater incase they came out of the screen or something.

The Fifth Element review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:59 (A review of The Fifth Element)

Ok, so we have Korben Dallas and the gang travel light speed to meet this blue smurf to get the stones. Now, as far as I can remember for E=MC2 that would mean that if Korben and his crew travel light speed to this planet and back, then Earth would age a lot. It never says how far this planet is but it can't be any shorter than at least two light years away because that's how close the nearest star is next to us. So everyone on Earth ages 4 years...at least. Yeah, sounds like a great vacation hey? We get to go to this planet for a bit while the rest of my family ages a shit load! My point is; there is this evil rock heading towards Earth and yet Korben and his crew travel light speed to this planet and back and yet this rock still hasn't reached Earth? They say it's travelling very fast and they show it pass Saturn too. Yeah, this part never made sense to me.

Overall it's not the worst movie and it has some cool moments but arg! Get it right if your gonna play with light!

D.O.A. review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:57 (A review of D.O.A.)

"I want to report a murder, my own!"

How many movies open with a great line like that? I love it! The story is about Frank Bigelow and he has found out he has been poisoned. He goes to the police station and tells the the police how it came to be and in the process we figure out the five W's of the crime. So we flash back from the very start. This movie has some odd dumb things in it, like the fake off camera whistle every time a hot dame walks by, and the over the top bad boy acting by Neville Brand as Chester is just funny to watch sometimes. Overall though, I've found myself watching this movie a few times and it has a good story to it so it's worth the watch if your into Film Noir or Crime movies.

Dinoshark review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:56 (A review of Dinoshark)

I've seen a hell of a lot worse than this so I don't see what some people are complaining about. What do they expect anyway with a title like this? I will say though that even for a movie with a $2,000,000 budget the CGI does seem cheaper than it should. I'm sure how much it costs to do CGI but I would think it would be a little bit better with a budget like that. As far as the movie goes I found the acting to be good, the music was ok, and there wasn't that many boring parts. The overall flow was good enough to keep my attention for 90 minutes. I almost gave this a 3/5 but I couldn't because of the CGI. They even use CGI to make the gun fire shots, come on man! Can't cost that much for real blanks! I'm a huge Roger Corman fan so when I saw he was doing a bunch of these giant monster movies I had to see them. This is my first one to see but if this is the worst of the bunch then I can't wait to see the others.

Total Dinoshark Kills: 26 (18 men, 8 women)
First Kill: 4:07
Last Kill: 1:23:53

Swears: 3
Scene's with Blood: 15
Blood Splats on Camera Lens: 2
Explosions: 3
Objects Destroyed: 4
Tits: 0
Close Ups of Girls in Bikinis: 9

The Devil Bat review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 09:53 (A review of The Devil Bat)

Not exactly a great movie for Bela Lugosi. I mean, come on, it's about a giant bat. Basicly Dr. Paul Carruthers is creating this cologne but he has added a pheromone which his experimental giant bats do not like and thus when the Dr. gets people to try it he then releases his bat and it flys out and kills whoever is wearing the scent. Everyone in Heathville loves the Dr. so no one suspects him...until he starts talking to much and being all weird. The effects are what you would expect as the giant bats simply looks like big a piece of plastic and there is a scene where the grass in the back yard of a house moves like a carpet when two people are fighting on it. Dr. Carruthers does get it in the end and it's pretty predictable. Another negative note is that Bela's accent is so thick I can't understand what he's saying at times. If your going to start with a Bela Lugosi movie I recommend you look elsewhere.
