Man in the Attic review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:37 (A review of Man in the Attic)

Out of all the movies on Jack the Ripper this one is still my favourite. It's subtle and the atmosphere is very well done. Jack Palance was an actor that always drove deep into his roles and this one was no exception. He is brilliant in this movie and throughout the whole film you kind of feel sorry for him in a way. He's a poor loveless man the feels betrayed by womans trust. A great crime/ mystery film and I recommend anyone that loves Jack the Ripper or Serial Killer flicks to check this one out.

The Last Mimzy review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:36 (A review of The Last Mimzy)

This is one of those rare moments where I give a film some good comments even though I've rated it low. I loved the story of this but as an adult I wasn't entertained much. I thought the film focused way to long on all the neat little powers the two kids are finding. I also thought that having the only black guy as the bad guy in the film was a bit lame. I thought that subconscious racist crap was done with in the early 90's, but I guess not. In saying that, I would probably have loved this a lot more if I was a kid and I will recommend it as well to my brother for his kids too. Interesting plot and good effects. The Intel bear rules!

The Jackie Robinson Story review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:36 (A review of The Jackie Robinson Story)

This movie is pretty good at telling the story of Jackie Robinson but the acting it so dreadful I can't give this any higher rating than a 3/5. It seems like it was put together in two days and very cheaply done, which is a shame. It is cool to see the real Jackie Robinson play as himself and I would recommend people watch this at least once if they're a fan of baseball. Just don't spend lots of money trying to find this movie. You can watch it online for free.

The Innocents review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:36 (A review of The Innocents)

I remember first watching this movie on the Space Channel back in 2001 on Halloween night and I loved it! It has one of the creepiest child actors you'll ever see on film and it doesn't not have a happy ending. It has that creepy ghost story feel and it's not a movie that'll make you jump out of your seat but more of a spine chiller type film. Watch this movie and then watch 'The Others'. There's a lot similar between the two. Even the posters look the same, view the images for the one I'm talking about. I think The Others took a lot from this classic.

Immortal review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:34 (A review of Immortal)

I wanted to really like this movie but the cross between live acting and computer animation didn't work for me. The animation seemed very cheap at times, for the human/ alien figures mostly. The idea of the story was pretty cool and I only wanted to watch it because I'm a fan of egyptian lore. I wish this movie was done without animation and I honestly believe that if this movie just stuck with normal human actors and didn't use CGI or animation, but instead models, it would have been awesome.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (20th Anniversary) review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:06 (A review of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (20th Anniversary))

This film is probably one of the most amazing films made with a budget of just $100,000, for the 80's anyway. I sometimes can't believe it was made that cheaply because the film is very artistic and there isn't anything really cheap looking about it, except for the fake Otis head, but you see if just a second anyway. I'm personally a big fan of the serial killer genre and this film is probably one the most real one's made out there. It may not be 100% accurate but it sure does a hell of a good job of making you feel for the victims and even feel for Henry at times too. The whole family rape scene is pretty brutal for the time and even by todays standards most people couldn't watch it. I love the atmosphere in this film too. It's very dark, and pretty much shows you the shitty side of our world and it doesn't give off a happy ending at all, just like real life sometimes.

Prom Night 2 - Hello Mary Lou [1987] review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:04 (A review of Prom Night 2 - Hello Mary Lou [1987])

Out of all the original Prom Night movies this one happens to be my favourite. It helps that I had a crush on Vicki Carpenter as well and seeing her full frontal nudity helped out a lot I think too. I like all the death scenes as well and it's not a bad edit of a movie overall. I'm also a big fan of Michael Ironside so I was surprised and delighted to see him in this when I first saw it. I've watched this movie over a dozen times and I feel like watching it right now. The movie leaves it open for a Part III in a neat way, but I highly recommend to never never never watch Part III...it is bloody horrid, and this is coming from a hugh fan of B-movies.

Heat review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:04 (A review of Heat)

Heat is my all time favourite action/ganster flick and it's a more sofisticated type of ganster movie with tons of shoot outs and the movie stays true to the title; "Don't get yourself attached to anything that you cannot walk out in 30 seconds if you feel the heat around the corner." It is a long movie but there's hardly a moment where your saying to yourself "Come on, let's get this movie going." There is a a couple love stories going amongst all the action but it's worth it in order to develope the lead characters. The Neil McCauley character is my favourite because he does have to make a choice in the end. Start a new normal life or go after the rat that nearly ruined it all for his gang. I won't spoil the very ending but the street shoot out scene near the end is one of the best ever. There's probably well over 1000 bullets fired between the LAPD and Neil's crew and it's awesome to watch it all unfold. If you ever what to be gripped by action and see how ruff it can get on both the cops end and the gangs end then this movie is a 1st pick from me.

Godzilla vs. Megaguirus review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:03 (A review of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus)

This movie was pretty cool. It has almost a horror film quality to it at some parts but it does however suffer from one of the stupidest ways to kill Godzilla. A black hole gun!?!? Yeah, let's just fire little black holes everywhere and see what happens. Well, after a test fire they manage to create a monster, Megaguirus, but they don't learn their lesson so they fire two more times. The great thing about this movie is the final battle, it's long and there's a ton of damage done everywhere too!

Godzilla review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 1 January 2012 10:03 (A review of Godzilla)

This film is just total garbage and it makes me so mad that they had to ruin the classic Godzilla franchise with this piece of crap. Bad acting, stupid plot, and some of the worst script you'll ever hear. It's pretty sad that Cloverfield was a better monster movie than this one. I only own it because it came with my massive Godzilla boxset. It sits in the box never to be touched again. Hell, Bambi vs. Godzilla was better than this movie!
