The Sadist review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:51 (A review of The Sadist)

This was an interesting movie and it was losely based off of the spree killer Charles Starkweather. The thing I remember most about this movie was some of the camera angles and shots were brilliant and it was overall entertaining. The acting by Arch Hall Jr. is a bit over the top at times but otherwise I'd check this out if your into older movies.

Revolt of the Zombies review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:50 (A review of Revolt of the Zombies)

For its time this movie isn't all that bad. I wouldn't say it's a horror movie now but I guess it was back then. There is some good dialogue in this movie at times and some of it made me laugh at bit, not in a bad way either. The over use of Bela Lugosi's eyes from White Zombie is a bit much but I guess Victor Halperin can do what ever he wants since he directed both films. That real is the only 'effects' in this movie too so it's a pretty cheap looking film, even for 1936. The title of the movie is a bit misleading as no zombies actually revolt, just the people revolt after their control is gone. Overall it's not the worst I've seen and it has some replay value for me, not sure why but it does.

Return of the Fly (1959) review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:49 (A review of Return of the Fly (1959))

Well, not as good as the first one, and Curse of the Fly is even better. It does have it's charm and runs like a film noir movie at times too. Vincent Price almost backed out of this movie because of the script changes that left him out of most of the film. The movie has a pretty good plot but there's some flaws in it. 1) The Fly's head is so big he can barely get out of the cabin door. 2) There's a couple sceens that show the actor trying to hold up his big fly head as he runs away from the cops. 3) Phil has aged probably 15 years but the technology, and the cars, hasn't aged at all! 4) Franรงois states; "...what if he has the murderious brain of a fly?" I wasn't aware the common house fly killed other living things.

The story begins at the funeral of Phil's mother and afterwards he wants to know the true reason how his father died. After being told he wants to follow in his foot steps, but he is double crossed by his co-worker and the shit hits the fan! Overall it's a fairly good movie but my least favourite of the three mainly because how ridiculous the fly looks. I don't even mind that it's back and white but it's definatly a cheaper looking film.

Red Shoe Diaries - The Movie review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:49 (A review of Red Shoe Diaries - The Movie)

I was a big fan of the TV series and I miss it tons now. I haven't been able to get any on DVD, if they're even out on DVD. I only have four episodes I taped on VHS in 2001. This movie was basiclly the first episode that shows how and why Jake Winters starts his Red Shoe Diaries. It's an interesting movie, kind of slow, and the plot is pretty predictable. I love the music lots though, as with the TV series, so I give it and extra half star for that alone. I would tell a bit more but it's hard to do without giving away the ending. Basiclly it's your three way love triangle story...and those never end well.

The Pit review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:46 (A review of The Pit)

This movie suffers from some poor acting but it does have a lot going for it. I don't much like the comedic parts as it turns me off from strickly thinking of this as a horror film. I will say that the kid in the movie is one creepy ass kid and I think of good ole Jeffrey Dahmer everytime I watch this movie. Overall it's not the best thing you'll see but the ending is awesome!

The Phantom of the Opera review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 2 January 2012 12:46 (A review of The Phantom of the Opera)

Not a bad take on the classic story. It has it's ups and downs but I find the last 20 minutes really slows the movie down. If I wanted to watch an opera I'd go rent an opera. I think they used to much of it in this movie and I did have it at a higher rating until that point. Overall it does have some replay value but it's just not really too good of a film. Of course, the soundtrack is great.
